What this covers, and the real problem
Will a website redesign hurt my Google rankings?
It does not have to. Rankings are lost when URLs change without redirects, content is dropped, or tracking breaks at launch. We list every important URL, plan redirects and content, check the staging site, and monitor after launch. Enter your website for a free review of what is at risk before you commit.

Many Redesigns Look Great. Some Quietly Lose Their Google Traffic.
Changed URLs, missing redirects and lost page titles are the usual causes. We treat your current rankings as an asset to protect, not an afterthought.
If a redesign quote does not mention redirects, staging or a post-launch check, ask why.
How Redesigns Go Wrong
URLs change with no redirects
Ranking pages turn into error pages overnight
The test setting is left on after launch
The new site tells Google not to index it
Titles, headings and content are rewritten without checking
Pages that ranked lose the signals that earned it
Refresh, redesign or rebuild?
Decide before you spend. The right option depends on how much is actually wrong.
Refresh
A visual and speed update on the same platform. Best when the structure and content work, but the site looks dated or loads slowly.
Redesign
A new design, structure and user experience, with content migrated on the same domain. Best when the site works technically but does not convert.
Rebuild or move platform
A new build, often on a different platform. Best when the current platform limits speed, security or growth.
What you get
What a Redesign Includes
UX and conversion review
How visitors move through your current site, and where they drop off.
Sitemap and page structure
A logical structure that keeps what ranks and improves what does not.
Design with your sign-off
You approve the design before development starts.
Build and content migration
Pages, posts and media moved across, with titles, headings and metadata preserved.
Redirect map
Every old URL that changes is redirected to the right new page.
Post-launch checks
Indexing, errors, speed and rankings reviewed after go-live.
What actually causes traffic loss after a redesign
URLs changed with no 301 redirects
Old addresses stop working, and the pages that ranked disappear from search.
Staging settings left on
A noindex tag or robots block from the test site stays live after launch.
Titles and headings rewritten
Pages lose the wording that helped them rank.
Content removed or thinned
Pages that brought traffic are merged or deleted without a plan.
Internal links broken
Navigation changes leave important pages with fewer links pointing to them.
Schema, canonicals or hreflang lost
Technical signals disappear when the template changes.
Slower pages
A heavier design makes pages slower, especially on mobile.
No tracking after launch
Problems go unnoticed because nobody is watching Search Console.
Rankings can move for a few weeks after any redesign. The goal is to keep the drop small and short, and to recover quickly.
How we work
Our SEO-Safe Redesign Process
Protect first, then improve.
Step 1
Baseline
We record your current rankings, traffic, top pages, links and speed, so we can prove nothing was lost.
Step 2
Plan and design
We map every old URL to a new one, and design the site for your visitors and your business goals.
Step 3
Build on staging
The new site is built and tested on a private copy that search engines cannot see.
Step 4
Launch and monitor
Redirects go live, the site is checked, and we watch Search Console closely after launch.
Working with an SEO team during a redesign
A redesign changes more than the look, and each change is a chance to protect or lose visibility. Bringing SEO into the project at the start means someone is responsible for the list of pages that rank today, the redirect map and the post-launch checks.
Our SEO services in Ahmedabad team does this as part of redesign projects, and our guide on technical SEO practices explains what a good launch checks.
Budget and care both matter: compare costs in the website development cost and website design cost guides, and plan maintenance and AMC for after launch. Our website development services page explains the full build.

Which platform should the redesigned site run on?
A redesign does not always need a new platform. These are the common paths, and the search work each one needs.
Same platform
WordPress to a clean WordPress build
Often the safest path. URLs can stay the same, so rankings are least at risk. The work is replacing a heavy theme and stacked plugins with a lean build, and keeping titles, headings and internal links.
Moving in
Wix, Weebly, Joomla, Drupal or old PHP to WordPress
URLs almost always change, so a full old-to-new URL map and 301 redirects are essential. Content, images, forms and metadata have to be moved by hand or script, then checked page by page.
Only when needed
WordPress to Next.js
Makes sense when you need custom features, portals or very high speed on large catalogues. It does not rank better by itself. It adds build and hosting work, so we use it only where the project needs it.
Ecommerce
WooCommerce, Shopify or Magento replatforming
Product and category URLs, product feeds, structured data and order history all need a plan. A store that changes platform without redirects can lose its product pages from Google quickly.
We recommend the platform that fits your goals, not the one that is easiest for us to build. The choice and the reasons are written in your proposal.
What affects cost and time
We give you a written scope and fee before you commit. These are the main drivers.
Number of pages
More pages mean more design, content migration and testing.
Features and integrations
Booking, payments, catalogues, CRM links and multi-language add work.
Content and photography
Writing and shooting new content takes longer than moving existing content.
Platform
WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or a custom build each have different effort and flexibility.
Your approvals
Fast feedback keeps projects on schedule, and delays in feedback are the most common cause of late launches.
The launch-day checks that protect your rankings
This is the list we work through before and on the day a redesigned site goes live. You can use it to check any agency's launch plan.
Before launch, on the staging site
On launch day

Rankings can move for a few weeks after any site change. A planned launch keeps that movement small and short.
Redesign for your sector
Doctors and hospitals
Clear patient journeys, appointment booking and careful, compliant wording.
Manufacturers and exporters
Product catalogues, specifications and an easy enquiry or quote request.
Online stores
Faster category and product pages, with Shopify or WooCommerce migrations planned around your catalogue.
Schools and services
Admission or booking flows that make the next step obvious.
Self-scorecard: do you need more than a refresh?
The more of these are true, the more likely a redesign or rebuild will pay off.

Content and conversion

After launch: monitoring, support and maintenance
A redesign is not finished on launch day. The first weeks are when problems show up: a redirect that was missed, a page that Google has not picked up, a form that stopped sending email. We review Search Console and enquiries after launch and report what changed, so nothing is left to chance.
Once the site is stable, it still needs updates, backups and security checks. Many clients move to a monthly care plan at that point, and the scope and terms of that plan are written down before you commit.

Website Redesign FAQs
Will a website redesign hurt my Google rankings?
It can if it is done carelessly, mainly through changed URLs, missing redirects and lost titles. With a redirect map, a staging check and post-launch monitoring, the risk is reduced, though rankings can still move for a few weeks.
How much does a website redesign cost in Ahmedabad?
It depends on the number of pages, features, platform and content. We give you a written scope and fee after reviewing your current site.
How long does a redesign take?
It depends on size and how quickly feedback comes back. We give you a timeline with your quote.
Do I have to change my domain or hosting?
No. A redesign usually stays on the same domain. Hosting changes only if there is a reason to move.
Will my URLs change?
We try to keep URLs the same. Where they must change, every old URL is redirected to the right new page.
Do I need a full redesign or just a refresh?
Often a refresh is enough if the structure and content work. We will tell you honestly after reviewing your site.
Can you redesign a site another agency built?
Yes. We first need access to your domain, hosting and site files, and we help you recover access if it is missing.
What happens to my blog posts and existing content?
Content that ranks or converts is kept and migrated. Weak or duplicate pages are reviewed with you before anything is merged or removed.
Will my old site stay live while you build the new one?
Yes. The new site is built on a private staging copy and replaces the old one only when you approve.
How will you show my rankings were preserved?
We record a baseline before the redesign and compare Search Console and analytics data after launch.
Do you offer support after the redesign?
Yes. We monitor after launch, and you can move into a maintenance plan if you want ongoing care.
Can you redesign my site if another agency built it and will not give me access?
Often yes. First we work out what you own: the domain, hosting, content and files. If access is blocked, we can rebuild from the live site and plan redirects from the public URLs. Ask your previous agency for a written handover as well.
Who owns the new website, design files and code?
Ownership terms are stated in your proposal before work starts. Your domain and hosting accounts should be in your name.
